ExpertMy role as an administrator has been filled with opportunities to collaborate with professionals to support student achievement. Administrative challenges continue and are part of all school systems. Ideally, school organizations foster collegial collaboration which accomplishes what Hargreaves and Fink in Sustainable Leadership describe as the following, “Effective organizations are characterized by: Processes that promote interaction and cross-pollination of ideas and influences across this variability; Emergence of new ideas, structures, and processes as diverse elements interconnect and new ones intrude from the outside…” These are the working relationships that can be forged through professional learning communities within the school organization. The culmination of doctoral studies at St. John’s University has resulted in a deeper understanding of moral imperative and human capacity. This Expert Folio represents the collegial collaboration in the cohort model which helped shape a renewed appreciation for the ideas and efforts of others.
Culture of OrganizationsThe following links provide an analysis of values in a school culture. School districts have a distinct culture and set of values that can be analyzed when relevant data are collected.
